SATTE consolidates as India's national and international showcase for travel and tourism
 

The inauguration of the 17th edition of SATTE took place on January 29 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The inauguration which was a grand affair saw the presence of Union Tourism Minister Kumari Selja, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit as the chief guests. Other guests included the Tourism Minister of Orissa Debi Prasad Mishra, the Tourism Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Nawang Rinzing Jora, Jammu and Kashmir's Minister of State for Tourism & Culture Nasir Aslam Wani, Union Tourism Secretary Sujit Banerjee and Gujarat's Tourism Secretary Vipul Mittra among others. Eminent Artist Sanjay Bhattacharya paints for SATTE
 
India's leading artist, Sanjay Bhattacharya, painted his vision of the world coming together on a tourism map, bringing together the Blue Mosque in Istanbul upfront along The Taj Mahal in Agra, India.
 
200 autographed digital prints are available for sale. Priced at Rs.25000/- each, the organizers have committed half of the earnings towards the newly launched SATTE Tourism Foundation. A sum of Rs.12500/- will be collected per painting sold, and handed over to the Foundation. A sum of Rs. 25.00 lakhs is the target to be raised. The proceeds will be directed towards some worthy cause for tourism, to be identified by the Foundation.
 
Specially Commissioned by SATTE, the painting was formally released for public viewing during the SATTE 2010 inauguration, by India's minister for Tourism, Kumari Selja, in the presence of other distinguished guests.
SATTE initiates a Tourism Foundation
 
SATTE Foundation brings together some of the best mind's in the business of travel and tourism in the country.

The objective of the Foundation is to create a body of professionals that will serve as an interface between SATTE, an exhibition organizer, and the industry at large and with governments, at the centre and in the states , in terms of an ongoing dialogue, sharing of knowledge for diverse industry goals and action. These areas could include marketing initiatives, balanced and responsible tourism planning and growth, and the larger Indian tourism effort to help authenticate and accentuate heritage, arts, and other varied USPs.
